2014 "International Sleep Medicine and Science Expert Forum”

Sleep medicine is a part of preventive medicine. There are many chronic diseases, including hypertension, heart disease, stroke, blood sugar poor control, chronic fatigue, back pain, and even certain types of cancer, are known to highly related to sleep. On the other hand, daytime alertness, driving safety, work performance are closely related to quality of sleep. International Sleep Science and Technology Association (ISSTA) and Center of Sleep Medicine & Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Medicine of Taipei Veterans General Hospital co-organize 2014 "International Sleep Medicine and Science Expert Forum (iFESS)” in Taipei on November 15th, 2014. iFESS in 2013 was the first international conference focused on sleep science, medicine & technology”. This year, we invite the Fellow of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Demin Han from Capital Medical University, Beijing, the Chair of Sleep Disordered Breathing Section, AASM, Prof. Ofer Jacobowitz from Mountain Sinai Hospital, New York, Professor Koichi Ogasawara from University of Elderly Welfare, Sendai, Japan, Dean of Dental College of National Yang-Ming University, Taipei, Prof. Allen Hsu,…etc. to be the speakers and commentators, and around 1,000 audiences will attend this forum, preparing for the proposal for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) sleep science and technology agenda. By organizing a series of expert forum, we hope to raise the awareness of the importance of & the advantages from sleep science, medicine & technology. And we could prevent consequences resulted from sleep disorders/deprivation before the irreversible results.
